Our Mission

We are all bombarded with so much

Information in this day and age. A world of Multi-media is all around us. TV, Cell Phone, Smart Phones, Internet, Magazines, Newspapers, the list goes on.

How much of all that comes at us each day reminds us of our true value and worth. How much of the information reinforces the truths of God about his love and care for us. How much ‘misinformation’ pelts our hearts and minds each day about who we truly are and how Our Heavenly Father truly sees us.

The Bible says in John 10:10 the enemy comes to ‘steal, kill, and destroy’. He often starts this thieving in the hearts of young ladies at a very young age. Our true value, our true worth, our true beauty, and our Fathers divine purposes for our lives can be distorted, and stolen from our hearts and minds.

When there are hurts, abuses, neglect, rejection, extreme poverty, and shame that enter into our lives, our value can quickly be forgotten.

Scarlet Tapestries is a sewing school for girls and women, but its foremost purpose is to share the Heavenly Fathers Great Love. To plant, water, and nurture the truth of the gospel in the hearts of His precious daughters. To see women empowered by God’s Holy Spirit, and the truth of His great love and salvation.

Some of us grow up never having known the love of the Father and some have a forgotten or the truth may have been distorted in our hearts. Scarlet Tapestries wants to share a practical skill and a while you learn, you create, you celebrate a skill learned, a challenge completed, we are asking that Jesus will surround your life, fill your heart, and open your eyes to His great and marvelous Love.

Connect Palmer is a local Non Profit 501c3 with a mission to help Palmer’s youth, single parent families, and those struggling with unemployment, helping to provide work and life skills training and practical needs assistance.

Seamstresses ages 7 to 18 will be presenting their sewing creations “down the catwalk “ at Real Life Church (10697 E. Palmer-Wasilla Hwy)  Saturday, April 11 at 5:00 p.m. Each qualified entry gives the seamstress a chance to win their very own sewing machine. Prizes will also be given for each of the eight categories: Formal Wear, Business/ Semi-Formal, Casual Wear, Sports Wear, Costumes, Outer Wear, Childrens Wear and Theme Wear “Old Things Made New.”

This will be the sixth Youth Fashion Show Sherry Carrington has hosted.  Sherry reports:

“We are excited to bring back the Annual Youth Fashion Show as a fundraiser for Connect Palmer. The Youth Fashion Show is a great picture of what we are trying to do at Connect Palmer. Many people, young and old alike, need help understanding how to work and need opportunites to learn good work habits and job skills. The Fashion Show is a way for our sewing apprentices to show off their hard work and creativity as  well as other young seamstresses in the valley.”

The Youth Fashion Show is primarily for youth ages 7 to 18 but does include an option for beginning adult seamstresses to enter one outfit in any category. An adult beginner seamstress is someone who has been sewing for less than one year.

Carrington explains, “Sewing is a lot of hard work. Youth who love to sew need a chance to show off their creative masterpieces. I love the community feel to it. Being part of all this has been a blast!

The show is open to the public. Advanced tickets are $15.00 for adults and $10.00 for children ages 3 to 12 years old (2 years old and under are free). A family pass can be purchased for $50. Tickets can be purchased at Connect Palmer.
